There are several diseases that are associated with obesity. Due to the fact that there 34% of Americans are considered to be obese, this is something that we should all be aware of. If we are not suffering from obesity ourselves, we at least know someone that is. This makes us all potentially at risk in one way or another for disease. One of the diseases that is associated with obesity is diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that poses the number one cause of those that get the disease is the fact that they are overweight. Diabetes is a disease that is initiated when one does not produce a sufficient amount of the insulin hormone. This in turn, causes them to have to provide their bodies with the insulin hormone that it needs manually.
Another one of the diseases that an individual is subject to getting on the basis of obesity is congestive heart failure. This is a disease that that is acquired if the body begins to have a hard time pumping the necessary blood to the organs in the body. The heart muscles may also be overworked as a result of obesity, causing there to be an enlarged heart. Another illness that can be forced upon an individual if he or she does not have the capacity to have the proper blood flow throughout their body is a stroke. A stroke is the result of there not being allowed for the proper flow of blood to the brain cells. The insufficient blood flow could very well be the cause of obesity.
A disease that can be acquired as a result of obesity is osteoarthritis. This is one of the diseases that has an effect on the physicality of the body. When people contract this disease as a result of obesity, it is because the excessive weight puts too much pressure on the joints. This is one of the more chronically painful diseases that may be obtained from obesity due to the fact that the inflammation in the joints that results is rather difficult to manage.
Pulmonary embolism is one of the diseases that a person may experience as a result of obesity. Pulmonary embolism is a disease in which the arteries are affected. The arteries become blocked due to the fat that is now built up on the arteries. It is said that in conjunction with the fact that the person has taken a high fat intake, the other aspect that represents the reason why many get diseases such as this is because they are not active enough. They are not working off the fat that builds up on the arteries are other parts of the body. Another one of the diseases in which the fat consumption may cause a devastating effect on the body is fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease is when there is a build up of fat that is accumulated on the liver cells. Unfortunately, this is one of the diseases that, once acquired, is not reversible.
